Jeff Smith and his wife, Joan have never been strangers to swimming. Both of them grew up in the pool and always loved any activity involving the water (pool, lake, ocean, etc).
Before starting King’s Swim Academy, Jeff coached young swimmers, college swimmers, and masters-level swimmers. Joan was an NCAA All-American swimmer, track athlete, and professional triathlete. She then went on to collect over 20 years of experience teaching and coaching swimming to a variety of ages.
King’s Swim Academy was born after Jeff, Joan, and their teenage daughter, Esther returned to the Bay Area without jobs. Since they all loved the water and kids, the three of them began teaching swim lessons out of Jeff’s mom’s backyard pool. Their numbers grew so quickly that they transitioned to an independent site in 2007. The rest is history!
To this day, King’s Swim Academy is truly a family-run business. All of the Smiths still have a hand in the business, from coaching to operations and beyond. (Even the grandkids are involved by taking lessons and being adorable!)
